#jesuisUFO, it’s the crazy idea I came up with after two long roadtips in Ontario while listening to over 75  franco-ontarian albums from yesterday and today…
#jesuisUFO, it’s my way of saluting the pioneers, the songwriters that we don’t always recognize or talk about
#jesuisUFO, it’s my way of assuming my roots, my culture, and to remember who I am
#jesuisUFO, it’s sort of an anthology of franco-ontarian music
#jesuisUFO, it’s bringing the past back in perspective
#jesuisUFO, it’s the paradox of having roots yet feeling like at stranger at home
#jesuisUFO, it’s knowing how to laugh about our quirks, assume what we are, and celebrate creation in a different way
#jesuisUFO, it’s to dare to take our homegrown tunes and dress them up with new rhythms, and serve them with a jazz twist
#jesuisUFO, it’s realizing we have a wonderful collective sense of humor in francophone Ontario– and wanting to share it with the world
#jesuisUFO, it’s a reminder that our individual and collective rights to speak a language, to have our own culture, is a privilege and it’s precious
#jesuisUFO, it’s the girl who assumes the fact that jazz is not part of the francophone Ontario tradition, but that it’s nevertheless part of her own story and she keeps doing it anyway

#jesuisUFO, it’s me, Janie Renée: part alien, part impetuous , certainly unconventional….but always Une Franco-Ontarienne.
